|Hi, here's a couple of 1902 cuttings when 1st Battalion returned from the Boer War. Also on the reverse of it, an advert for military binoculars. I have an identical WW1 pair engraved "6th Border".|

Who died 1st July 1916.
|Those binoculars look very similar to a pair my grandfather had. I can't tell for sure but there is a striking resemblance to the ones I remember seeing when he was still alive.
More amusingly, I like the Owbridge's ad, because it's always handy to have some "Lung Tonic"!

What would the ranks be on the two gentlemen to the left (as you look) of the RSM? Drum major? Bandmaster? Inverted chevrons on both, lower arm.
