The main glossary consists of words and phrases of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain during the Great War, which also includes: technicalities, trench slang, expressions in everyday use, nicknames, sobriquets, the titles and origins of British and Commonwealth Regiments, and warfare in general.

Although the majority of terms listed here are gleaned from these publications (with no evidence of copyright), there are various entries listed from other sources. The subcategories listed below form additional branches of the main glossary, which include basic chronologies of people and places, that are used throughout the site. These are sourced primarily from Chronology of the War Volumes I, II and III by Lord Edward Gleichen.
