Hi, Does anyone have a copy of the 3rd Bn war diary entry for 7th July 1915 (or possibly earlier that month?) I am looking for any details about an action in which 2nd Lt Edward Rowley Kelly lost his life, aged 17.
Cheers, ASA1.

11th Border Regiment
k.i.a. 1st July 1916
Hi, According to the book, The Border Regiment in the Great War, by HC Wylly - the 3rd Battalion were stationed in the UK throughout the war, based initially at Conway, Wales, then from late 1915-1917 at Barrow in Furness, followed by Crosby, Liverpool from 1917-1918.

They were a draft finding unit throughout the war and provided some 600 officers and 47000 men to other battalions of the regiment, other units, corps etc. The 5th Battalion were in the Ypres area at the time according to the book, perhaps the diaries you want are the 5th Battalion's.
