Situated at a junction next to St Michael’s church. Bears the names of all the Appleby company 2nd Volunteer Battalion The Border Regt. plus a panel in memory of casualty Pte. Thomas Leonard Atkinson died at Potchefstroom June 18th 1900. The cross on the top looks like a version of the regimental crest, with a star instead of a dragon (because the volunteers would not be entitled to the China battle honour I presume?)
