The following text is a Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) transcription of a Border Regiment soldier of the First World War.

Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 10th March 1915, at Neuve Chapelle, when he left his trench under heavy fire on three occasions to attend on the wounded who were lying out 20 yards in front. He was killed on the third occasion.
