It is too soon to speak of the deeds of arms of the British Empire. These can be left to the historian, by whom it will be shown that the part played by the original Expeditionary Force and by the troops in the two battles of Ypres and the battle of the Somme had no small influence on the issue of the war.
The military effort of the British Empire has not yet been unduly stretched. There are in the United Kingdom alone between 3,000,000 and 4,000,000 men of military age
