Who died 1st July 1916.
The Regimental Weekend for the Border Regiment and the King's Own Royal Border Regiment will be the 8th, 9th and 10th of May, 2009.

Additional information regarding the Regimental weekend.

The 2009 Regimental Weekend is to be held over the weekend 8-10 May 2009 in Carlisle. All members of The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment are welcome to attend. Please note that 2009 is the Golden Jubilee of the amalgamation of The King's Own Royal Regiment and The Border Regiment.

The programme for the weekend is:

  • FRIDAY 8th MAY: Border Regimental Reunion Supper Dance 1930 hrs for 2000 hrs in The Shepherds Inn, Carlisle; music by The Big Band Sound. Tickets £16 each (cheques payable to 1 Border Regt.) from John Mallinson [remaining contact details removed].
  • SATURDAY 9th MAY: Morning - The King's Division Recruiting Team will hopefully erect the Zip-Wire and Paint Ball Range on the Castle Green. Re-enactors and Vintage Military Displays in the Castle.
    • Afternoon - Cumbria ACF Band Display, on the Castle Square. Re enactors and Vintage Military Displays, in the Castle.The Regimental Museum will be open every day 0930 hrs to 1700hrs. Tea, coffee and biscuits available for members of the Regimental Family.
    • Displays will feature the history of The King's Own Royal Border Regiment 1959-2006, including the Arroyo Drums, 1st Battalion's Drums and 1980 (Weeton) Colours and uniform.Evening - The Golden Jubilee King's Own Royal Border Regiment Supper Dance 1900 for 1930rs at the Shepherds Inn; jacket and tie. Tickets £18.00 each. This will be for a three course meal and for two bottles of wine per table of 10. Please make your cheques payable to The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. (Please inform CHQ if you wish to reserve places or a table). The Corps of Drums of Cumbria ACF will give a Drumming Display after the meal.
  • SUNDAY 10 MAY: Golden Jubilee Regimental Thanksgiving Service and Parade.
    • 1130 hrs Veterans, Soldiers and Cadets form up in the Castle (Veterans may join the Parade on Castle Street). We are hoping that all Branches will be represented and that their Standards will be parading, on this special occasion.
    • 1215 hrs Thanksgiving Service in the Cathedral.
    • 1300 hrs March back to Castle. Deputy Colonel takes salute, inspects the parade and presents medals and awards.
    • 81330 hrs Curry Lunch in Burma Block.
