This is a great book from the Battleground Somme series published by Pen & Sword Books Ltd. It covers the offensive that took place around the town of Thiepval but includes information relating to the Lonsdales and their struggles including, amongst other things, the night raid on the Granatloch in an attempt to search for vital enemy intelligence. It has some great illustrations and photographs, the latest edition having a colour section about the visitor's centre. It is an easy read and offers detailed information that is, in my opinion, interesting and gripping. Not a large book, at 190 pages, this was £10.99 new. Available at any good book shops. ISBN 1-84415-350-9

I like the idea of the suggested walks at the end of the book and have always had half a mind to try the Lonsdale Walk suggested.
