|Remainder of day quiet with exception of hostile [[sniping]] and occasional active artillery fire. When it became dark, two attempts by the Coy on the left, were made to capture Strong Hostile Post near that flank. Both attempts were unsuccessful owing to the post being too strongly held.
 
At 8.30pm., firm orders were received that the Battn must act in conjunction with the Naval Division on our right in another advance to be made along the PUISIEUX RIDGE, C Coy (Capt ROSS) and two platoons of D Coy were detached. They took up their position on the left flank of the Naval Division & on the barrage opening up at 9pm., the advance started. Some 330 yards ground being taken, The advance was at right angles to the line the Battn held. A new line of posts was established connecting up with the Naval Division.
