A couple of interesting photos of Appleby men from the 2nd Vol Bn Border Regiment on this site.........and the men are named! Hope you find them as fascinating as I do. They mention Pte Atkinson as a possible casualty of the war so not in the second image and he does appear on the Cathedral Boer War Memorial. |

This is a great find! I'm particularly interested in Appleby as this is where my grandparents and great grandparents lived. Do you recognise the background location? |

Unfortunately I don't know the location as I only ever went to Appleby to play rugby when at school!
Hopefully there are a few more photographic gems like this out there. |
