Have just seen this on the WW2 forum I am a member off and it is from the historian Paul Reed
"This new Channel 5 series about WW1 archaeology will be transmitted at 8pm on 8th and 15th November." More details on Paul's blog. https://greatwarphotos.com/2012/10/21/new-tv-series-messines-ww1-tunnels-of-death/ Looks good |

I saw both episodes. Both interesting, but the second one is the best when they actually send a camera down into the flooded tunnel. Also great footage of remarkably well preserved underground woodwork. (So, I ask myself why on earth do my garden fence posts rot where they are hammered into the ground, regardless of what modern preservatives I use?!!. Seriously, perhaps it's the lack of oxygen in the sealed tunnels? - any scientists out there?) Paul |
