| An interesting inter-war item - a bronze (?) medallion about the size of a 10p piece for no 14 platoon – the Inter Platoon Rifle Competition winners in 1922-23. I wonder if it was the 1st Battalion at Kohat on the North West Frontier in India, the 2nd Battalion in Aldershot, or the 4th or 5th territorials perhaps at summer camp? I guess the best answer would be to find which peacetime battalions had companies with 14 or more platoons?
I’m thinking 2nd Bn is most likely myself - the dragon being the motif of the 55th Regiment of Foot which became the 2nd Bn on formation of the Border Regiment in 1881. Paul |
