From "Short Histories of the Territorial Regiments of the British Army" by R. De M. Rudolf 1905 (book long out of copyright).

As the regiment was only 25 years old when the book was written it would have been a “short history" if he hadn’t included the 34th & 55th! Note in part 2 the reference to the Borders being in Burma, Waziristan, and Crete prior to the Boer War. (Chris, perhaps this entry could be a candidate for a posting in the "Earliest Days 1881- " new section suggested by Bodger?)
