Fellow Borderites,I know there are some football lovers here on the site so thought I would let you know of a match that men from the 1st Border played in at Frere, South Africa at 3pm on 25th December 1899 against 1st Battalion Inniskilling Fusiliers! The Border's won 2 nil!

Not into football but that's good news. I love hearing about the sportsmanship and games played between the men. Although a few years later, having read through a few war diaries, football matches were quite popular, however, the Borders did not win them all....unfortunately.
