==Reference templates==
These are used primarily on [[Lonsdale Battalion on this day...]] but will now be introducing them to [[:Category:Index of places| index pages]]. Not all pages will require all three templates. Most may only use the <code><nowiki>{{acks}}</nowiki></code> (acknowledgements) template, others may require a combination of two or all three, particularly if there are additional notes or references to be included.

===Reference syntax for notes===
Currently, there three main syntaxes for notes. These are used with the <code><nowiki>{{reflist}}</nowiki></code> template. The above template ([[Template:Notes]]) includes all three variations so if any of these are used, they will be displayed.
*<code><nowiki> {{reflist|group=note}}</nowiki></code>
*<code><nowiki> {{reflist|group=n}}</nowiki></code>
*<code><nowiki> {{reflist|group=lower-alpha}}</nowiki></code>

With the above in mind adding the following syntax within the text will provide the subsequent renderings for each version. It doesn't matter which version is used providing they remain consistent on each page.
*Syntax used is <code><nowiki><ref group="note">..note goes here...</ref></nowiki></code> which renders as <ref group="note">This is the note that renders the whole word note 1, note 2, note 3.</ref>
*Syntax used is <code><nowiki><ref group="n">..note goes here...</ref></nowiki></code> which renders as <ref group="n">This is the note that renders the abbreviated version of "note" as n 1, n 2, n 3.</ref>
*Syntax used is <code><nowiki><ref group="lower-alpha">..note goes here...</ref></nowiki></code> which renders as <ref group="lower-alpha">This is the note that renders letters of the alphabet</ref> and this <ref group="lower-alpha">The more notes there are the more letters are rendered: a, b, c, d, e, f, etc.</ref>

Hello, I am Borderman, just a regular user of the Miraheze community, using their services to create this site, The Lonsdale Battalion, of which I am the administrator.

If you have any comments, questions or concerns I can be contacted in the following ways:

My user subpages

The following are my current subpages, mostly used for testing purposes only.

Main projects

Reference templates

These are used primarily on Lonsdale Battalion on this day... but will now be introducing them to index pages. Not all pages will require all three templates. Most may only use the {{acks}} (acknowledgements) template, others may require a combination of two or all three, particularly if there are additional notes or references to be included.

Reference syntax for notes

Currently, there three main syntaxes for notes. These are used with the {{reflist}} template. The above template (Template:Notes) includes all three variations so if any of these are used, they will be displayed.

  • {{reflist|group=note}}
  • {{reflist|group=n}}
  • {{reflist|group=lower-alpha}}

With the above in mind adding the following syntax within the text will provide the subsequent renderings for each version. It doesn't matter which version is used providing they remain consistent on each page.

  • Syntax used is <ref group="note">..note goes here...</ref> which renders as [note 1]
  • Syntax used is <ref group="n">..note goes here...</ref> which renders as [n 1]
  • Syntax used is <ref group="lower-alpha">..note goes here...</ref> which renders as [a] and this [b]

Note renderings

  1. This is the note that renders the whole word note 1, note 2, note 3.
  1. This is the note that renders the abbreviated version of "note" as n 1, n 2, n 3.
  1. This is the note that renders letters of the alphabet
  2. The more notes there are the more letters are rendered: a, b, c, d, e, f, etc.

Templates used for the Roll of Honour

The following templates are used to create soldier remembrance pages for the Lonsdale Battalion Roll of Honour.

Traditional infoboxes

Alternative infoboxes

So, not strictly infoboxes any more after being redesigned, however, these templates do make extensive use of tables.

Link templates

Other templates

Hints and tips

To resize images so they are responsive to screen size use the following:

<div class="res-img">
[[File:YourImageFileName.jpg|size]]
</div>

The following is to be used on a soldier's commemorative scroll subpage.

<center><div class="res-img">
{{Commemorative scroll

 |fontsize=160
 |name=
 |battalion=11th Battalion (Lonsdale)
 |regiment=The Border Regiment}}

Poppy photos for soldiers without main image

The following poppy images can be used on the soldier remembrance pages where there is no image of the soldier. The single poppy represents the soldier that fell and is remembered with this flower of peace.

The following poppy images can be used elsewhere throughout the site.
