Lonsdale Records/Discharges

The list of Lonsdale Records relating to the Lowther family and the Earls of Lonsdale are stored at the Cumbria Record Office (Carlisle Headquarters). The Lowther Family Estate have thousands of records listed in various categories and sub-categories ranging from DLons/L5 to DLons/L25. The records relating to the 11th Border Regiment (Lonsdale) range from DLons/L13/13/1 to DLons/L13/13/282

  • D LONS/L13/13/24: File re the discharge of soldiers for various reasons including - date: 2 June - 11 October 1915
  • D LONS/L13/13/25: Papers re discharges from service, including - date: 15 September 1914 - 26 October 1915
  • D LONS/L13/13/26: Receipts for soldiers' documents on discharge - date: 24 March - 8 November 1915
  • D LONS/L13/13/27: Medical history forms of recruits some of whom were discharged because they were unfit; also includes attestation papers - date: 22 July - 22 November 1915
