Mr. and Mrs. Diamond, Lonsdale-street, have received the following letter from the Rev. A. J.W. Crosse, Chaplain dated July 11th:-
—Workington Star and Harrington Guardian, Published 8 July 1917.
- “It grieves me to have to write and tell you that your brave boy was wounded badly in the great attack last week and died shortly after in hospital. I buried him myself, quite close to where his Colonel lies. I do not think he suffered much at the end. He was very brave all through. God will help you in your sorrow. You may well be proud of such a son.
- – Yours in true sympathy.
- P.S. – We have put up a little cross to your son’s memory.”
