Notes	*Son of John and Hannah Hartness, of Skelton Road Ends, Penrith, Cumberland. *Thomas is one of many young men who enlisted underage, being just sixteen years of age when he joined the Lonsdales. *Brother of Richard Hartness (19505 Pte.) who died on 12 August 1916, aged 19.
