Lonsdale Battalion events that took place on 19 May.
For events that took place elsewhere, see 19 May on The Great War wiki.

1916 (Friday)

  • Battalion in the Authuille Sector. Artillery active on the right, otherwise everything else seems quiet.
  • Two other ranks are wounded, one is killed.

1917 (Saturday)

1918 (Sunday)

  • Maisinieres: Training the Cadre[a] in their duties and waiting for 328th U.S. Infantry Regiment to arrive.[b]

  1. The Battalion war diary states that at midnight on 9/10 May, 1918, the 5th Border Regiment and 11th Border Regiment were amalgamated. After amalgamation a training cadre of ten officers and 51 other ranks was formed and retained the Lonsdale title of the 11th Battalion the Border Regiment, which continued as a training cadre until total disbandment on 31 July, 1918. The remaining cadre then joined the 1/5th Border Regiment and the Lonsdale Battalion ceased to exist.
  2. Additionally, during the period 13–19 May, 1918, the Lonsdales were under the administration of 198 Infantry Brigade. On 20 May they were transferred to the 199 Infantry Brigade.
