Battalion in isolation camp at Contay Wood (measles) involved in Divisional and Brigade manoeuvres, training and small working parties.^[1]^[2]^[3]
Private R.H. Nichol writes to the Workington Star and Harrington Guardian:

“Dear Sir, I take this opportunity of writing a few lines thanking you very much for the parcel of twist which I received quite safe yesterday. I can assure you it came at the right moment, as I had run out of the last issue. Our Battalion are now away from the firing line enjoying a well-earned rest, which I think they deserve, having had a rough time of it lately. I shared the parcel out with the lads of my Section, and they are enjoying a good smoke and wish to thank you very much.

The Battalion has been running a football competition, eleven out of a Platoon, to meet teams out of other Companies, and I am glad to tell you that the lads of D Company (Workington), 13th Platoon had the honour of beating No. 2 Platoon (Carlisle) by two goals to nothing. It brought back memories of the old “Derby Days”. Thanking you once again, and hoping you are all in the best of health, and wishing your paper every success.” ^[4]
