1914
- Template:WF - Belgium: Main army falls back towards the Dyle.
- Template:NO - Antivari (Montenegro) bombarded by Austrian fleet.
- Togoland entered by combined French and British force.
- Template:PO - Russia: Tsar addresses the Duma.
- Switzerland mobilises and proclaims state of siege.
- USA offers its good services.
1915
- Template:EF - Germans attack Kovna, repulsed with heavy losses. Novo Georgievsk cut off in the east. Praga (Warsaw) is occupied. Mackensen forces Russians back across the Veprj.
- Template:SF - Monfalcone dockyard (northern Adriatic) bombed.
- Ae – - Bushire (Persian Gulf) occupied by British as reprisal for two officers killed there on 12 July.
- Template:NO - German Fleet attacks Riga and is repulsed.
- HMS Ramsay sunk by German steamer Meteor (blown up to avoid capture). HMS India, auxiliary cruiser, torpedoed off Norway.
- Template:PO - German unsuccessful peace tentatives to Russia through Denmark.
- Naval General Service Medal instituted.
