1915 (Wednesday)

  • Battalion Orders: Greatcoats will always be worn or carried by NCO’s and men proceeding to Musketry, for the purpose of protection in the case of rain and to lie upon when firing.[1]

1916 (Thursday)

  • The Lonsdales and 17th Highland Light Infantry relieve each other; the men billet in Millencourt.

1917 (Saturday)

  • Weincourt: Involved in general parades for training etc.

1918 (Sunday)

  • Situated in camp near Woesten. Church parades as usual. Local cinemas etc. patronised in afternoon.
  • Bathing and delousing takes place; the men are issued with straw paliasses[a] and an extra blanket.

Notes

  1. From the French word, a Paliasse is a thin mattress that is usually stuffed with straw or sawdust.
