1915 (Monday)

  • Routine Saturdays: "in future the lecture 9.15-9.45am will be at the option of the officers commanding companies who are expected to make the best use they can of this time, according to their discretion." [1]

  • Beaumont Hamel: Battalion is situated in the R1 Sub-Sector of the line.
  • Two companies in front line, one in support, one in reserve. Commanding Officer visits the line.

1918 (Friday)

  • Battalion is situated in the field. The outpost line consists of a series of posts.
  • By day no movement is possible in forward area. By night all men possible work on wire, improving posts etc. The remainder carry food and material.
