1915 (Monday)

Events preceding the Lonsdales' arrival in France

• Letter from Brigadier Collings to Lt-Col. Machell: “I wrote to Sir. H. Mackinnon asking him if your Battalion could not be pushed on to musketry, & and he replies that he regrets very much he cannot get rifles for you to do so.
• Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant R. Stanley is appointed the commission of Captain.

1916 (Tuesday)

• Hénencourt Wood: Situated in hut billets preparing to move into reserve at 6pm.

1917 (Thursday)

• Camon: Battalion parades in full marching order. Marches to Weincourt.
• William Ernest Crayston (23989 Pte.) dies of wounds, aged 29.

1918 (Friday)

• Situated in camp near Woesten where companies are working under the Royal Engineers repairing pill boxes and machine gun defences
• Specialist training as usual.
