The following text is a Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) transcription of a Border Regiment soldier of the First World War.

Citation For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a patrol which had been sent out to bring in the body of an officer. He outflanked a party of the enemy which were holding a farm with a machine gun, compelling upon them to retire, and inflicting heavy casualties upon them. The next day he personally captured six prisoners during the attack.
