Citation For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Gauck Wood, on 18th September 1918. During an overwhelming enemy counter-attack, this NCO rallied his men who were being pressed back, and although himself wounded led forward a bombing attack, which, thanks to his energetic leadership, broke up the enemy, and forced them to a hastily retire.
