Citation At Fontanellette, on the 29th October 1918, he led his platoon with great dash against a machine-gun post which had held up the advance. On another occasion, when a hidden machine gun had suddenly opened fire from a flank, he stood up alone in full view of the enemy and silenced the machine gun by use of his rifle.
