Citation For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his company went forward through a heavy barrage he kept his men together and encouraged them by his example. It was mainly due to his coolness and complete control over his men that the company were able to take up their correct position and get under cover. He helped to bring in and dress the wounded, and his courage, coolness and skill were of the highest order.
