Citation For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When in charge of a carrying party he saw the attacking party was held up. He dumped his material, and led his men to reinforce. He dug in in front of the enemy strong post, and held until ordered to withdraw. He showed great courage and coolness throughout.
