1916 (Monday)
- Hénencourt Wood: Situated in hut billets involved in fatigue duties.
- Private M. Timmins[1] writes a letter to the Workington Star and Harrington Guardian:
- “Dear Sir, I am writing these few lines thanking you for the parcel I received yesterday, also “Juno” and the customers of the “Black Cock”, Distington. We are now out of the trenches for a rest a few miles behind the firing line, living in canvas huts in a wood surrounded by nothing else but mud.
