The following text is a Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) transcription of a Border Regiment soldier of the First World War.

Name J. R. Minter
Rank Company Sergeant Major
Number 30551
Other details 7th Border Regiment (Shepherd's Bush)
Date published 11 March 1920
Citation During the period 17th December 1918, he displayed great gallantry and skill. Owing to heavy casualties, it was frequently necessary for him to take over command of a platoon in addition to his other duties, and this he did in a cheerful and able manner, at the same time setting an excellent example to all ranks by his utter disregard for personal danger.
