The following text is a Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) transcription of a Border Regiment soldier of the First World War.

Citation For conspicuous gallantry in action. Although wounded he led his men on to the assault of a strong point, which was holding up the attack. He was again wounded, but carried on and succeeded in capturing the strong point. Later, he organised parties for consolidating the position.
