1915 (Wednesday)

Capt. Diggle’s order to officers: Until further orders the usual brown leather belts will be worn by Officers on all ordinary duty. Swords will not be worn under any circumstances. Every officer must provide himself with a Service revolver and pouch for ammunition, which will not be worn at present, but which will be shortly required.^[1]
Forfeiture of pay for absence: J. Turner (17476) / J. Marshall (13749) / W. Skinner (13684) / J. Shannon (13386).^[2]

Battalion situated at the front in the E1 sector near Hénencourt.
Day very quiet owing to bad weather of snow, frost and thaw alternating. Trenches falling in and very wet.

Battalion situated in the support line 'Kuropatkin'. Working parties for the Royal Engineers are supplied.
Improving and cleaning out the trenches.

Voluntary church services. Preparations are made before going into the line.
Move by train from Woesten to Charpentier and relieve the 1st Lancashire Fusiliers.
A Company and D Company remains in the line. B Company and C Company are in support.
Deaths: Robert Cartner (13380 Pte.) / John Forester (4046 Pte.) / Robert Glaister (15463 Pte.) / John James Hankinson (28773 Pte.)
