Citation For conspicuous gallantry and initiative on the 9th August 1915, at Suvla Bay (Dardanelles). After the Officer and all Non-commissioned officers of his platoon had been killed or wounded, he assumed the command, and led it with the greatest courage and success. He displayed fine qualities of leadership, and his example was of the greatest encouragement to all ranks.
