- Approval of the Army Council is given (War Office letter No. 20/Gen. No./3162 (A.G.1) and an Executive Committee is formed.
- Earl of Lonsdale and the Executive Committee decide to raise the "Lonsdale Battalion" in three detachments: Carlisle, Kendal and Workington.[1]

- In the front line. Encounters a raid on 'C' Company's lines about 3:30am with one other rank killed and one wounded.[4]
- Heavy hostile bombardment on left sub-sector (St. Georges and Lombardzyde) during the afternoon.[4]
- One enemy soldier, who is wounded during raid on 'C' Company, is brought into 11th Border's lines.[4]
