- "Getting short of officers. The regular battalions are always changing, but these North-Country men want to know their officers thoroughly or they count for very little."[3] – Lt-Col. P. W. Machell

- Battalion moves from the sunken road at Ransart at 8.30am to occupy old trenches in the vicinity of Adinfer Wood. 2 Companies in rear and 2 on the right flank.[5]
- Later in day the rear Companies move to the front of the wood. The men dig shelters in the sides of old trenches. Battalion Headquarters is located at the rear.[5]
