1916

• “Private John Bardgett Missing: Mrs Bardgett, Chapel Street, Appleby, has been notified that her Husband John Bardgett of the Border Regiment has been missing since 1 July. Before the war he was employed on the Midland Railway.”

1917

• Battalion situated in the line experiences some troublesome 'Minnies'<ref>"Minnies" is a slang term used by the Allied forces for a class of short range mortar called a Minenwerfer (mine launcher) used extensively during the First World War.
• 2nd Lieut. Arthur Armer and three other ranks are killed.
• Private Gilbert Radley (260256) dies, possibly as a result sickness.
