The following text is a Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) transcription of a Border Regiment soldier of the First World War.

Citation For gallantry and devotion to duty during the period 25th Feb. to 17th September 1918. He has commanded a platoon or been acting CSM during this period. He has at all times, when under fire, shown great gallantry and set a very fine example to the men, especially during the Lys and Outtersteene battles. His work throughout has been of a very high standard.
