Lonsdale Battalion events that took place on 11 January.

1915 (Monday)

  • Lt-Col. Machell to Lord Lonsdale: "Received 600 badges with 1000 [?] badges perfect for caps total with depot 1600. Unsuitable for shoulder where usual Border badge must be worn. Suggest hundred extra....to supply officers’ collars if darkened locally." [1]
  • "An order to equalise the distribution of Rifles, so that each Coy may have 100....Rifles will be handed over clean and in good order." [2]
  • Inoculations that recommenced on 8 January are to be resumed 12 January.[2]
  • Twenty one new recruits enlist in the battalion.[a][2]
  • Eight promotions to the rank of Sergeant take place.[b][2]
