December

Lonsdale Battalion events that took place on 2 December.

1915

  • Battalion marches to Molliens-au-Bois; arrives and billets at 12:30pm.[1]
  • Involved in lectures, inspections and physical exercises.[2]

1916

  • Battalion situated at Berteaucourt. Church parade and inspection of billets by Commanding Officer.[3]

1917

  • Battalion makes a night attack on German positions South of Westroosebeek in conjunction with remaining units of 97th Infantry Brigade and 2 units of the 96th Infantry Brigade.[4]
  • Zero hour 1.55am. The Lonsdales takes its objectives but two leapfrogging Companies fall back before dawn onto subsidiary objectives, which are held all day until the enemy launches a counter attack at 4.30pm. The Lonsdale then fall back onto the old line.[4]
