Lonsdale Battalion events that took place on 26 November.

1914

  • Newspaper article: Lonsdale Battalion - Further list of Recruits.[1]
  • 4 men recruited at Cargo.[2]
  • Lt-Col. Machell reports to Lord Lonsdale: The mess hut has been lengthened...several of the new tables have been received & we can now just seat all the men together – a huge advantage. Men are also at work flooring the stables, as further accommodation is urgently required. Men are coming in well – strength yesterday 729...we have about 200 men in uniform now. We are organising a big parade for 7th Nov. the hiring day at Carlisle...The health of the men is good...their conduct is splendid... [3]

1916

  • Battalion parades then leaves Gezaincourt at 8.15pm; arrives Berteaucourt 1pm. General Barns watches as the Lonsdales march past him en route.[6]

1917

  • Battalion situated at Wesroosebeek, holding the line, all quiet.[7]
  • 'B' Company captures one prisoner on night of 26–27 November. 8 other ranks wounded, 2 missing.[7]
