Lonsdale Battalion events that took place on 2 December.

1915 (Thursday)

  • Battalion marches to Molliens-au-Bois; arrives and billets at 12:30pm.
  • Involved in lectures, inspections and physical exercises.[1]

1916 (Saturday)

  • Berteaucourt: Church parade and inspection of billets by Commanding Officer.

1917 (Sunday)

  • Battalion makes a night attack on German positions South of Westroosebeek in conjunction with the remaining units of 97th Brigade and two units of the 96th Brigade.
  • 1.55am: Zero hour. The Lonsdales take their objectives.
  • Two leapfrogging companies fall back before dawn onto subsidiary objectives. These are held all day.
  • 4.30pm: The enemy launches a counterattack and the Lonsdale fall back to the old line.

The following Lonsdale men died this day in 1917
