- Thomas Smith Glasson (15430) enlists in Carlisle.

He made a daring reconnaissance in daylight under heavy rifle and shell fire. The valuable information obtained by him had much to do with the success of the operation. In 1918 he was attached to the Royal Air Force, which was founded on 1 April 1918 with the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS).
